Sweet Lovey Baby Review and Giveaway

Today I am going to review a OS AI2 diaper from Sweet Lovey Baby on Etsy.

First of all, let's talk about how amazingly adorable this diaper is.  I love the bug print!!!  Not only that, there is two different colors of PUL.  There is the yellow and the green strip.  The the way this diaper looks on the outside is just so unique!  I love it!!!

Here is what this diaper is made of: PUL and cotton print outer, lined with velour. The soaker is 2 layers of Zorb sandwiched in bamboo baby terry, and the booster (snapped to the bottom of the soaker) is another layer of Zorb sandwiched in bamboo baby terry.

The soaker than snaps to the back side of the diaper for use.

And the booster snaps into the bottom of the soaker of the diaper.

As you can see from this diaper, this keeps it all together.  The booster and the soaker of the diaper line up perfectly.

The soaker and booster come out a little bit smaller on the size setting that I use so you just fold it under.  I am sure, as you can probably tell, that this is a diaper made perfectly for a super soaker.  I have not tried it overnight yet, but this diaper did make it through my 2 hour test during the day and the 3 hour nap test!  I am hopefully going to be trying it overnight sometime soon!  As for the fit, it is wonderful!  This diaper fits my son perfectly.  And it doesn't sag or anything when he is crawling away.  He must like it...look at that happy crawling butt! :-)  And just to restate, how darn cute does that look!?!?!?  lol.

Ashley also sells awareness ribbon diapers.  Check that out!  I think that is so awesome!!!  I think I might have to get a few sometime down the road as I am sure a lot of you know that I am all about fighting the good fight!

And now, thanks to Ashley, you get your chance to win a diaper!

Polar Bear Review and Giveaway

Today I am going to tell you about Polar Bear Coolers.  I got the wonderful opportunity to review a 12 pack cooler from Polar Bear Coolers.  But first, I would like to give you some information on their coolers.

Exceptional quality inside and out. The Polar BearĂ¢€™s leak proof / sweat proof design is tough, rugged and built to last. The heavy-duty outer shell is comprised of 1000 denier Cordura nylon and high-density open cell foam. The PBC will not mold or mildew and is washable in soap and water.

Nothing keeps cool like a Polar Bear! The Polar BearĂ¢€™ Dura-Temp liner, and air trap design keeps ice for at least 24 hours in 100 degree heat and will withstand boiling water without damage. The Dura-Temp liner is leak proof, puncture resistant, and pulls inside out for easy cleaning.

The Polar Bear fits about anywhere and when not in use packs away nicely. We stand behind our product with a one-year warranty against manufacture defects. We are confident you will enjoy years of performance from your Polar Bear.

Well, after reading that I bet you are intrigued.  Well, so was I!  When I got this on the doorstep I was so excited to put it to the test.  It was another hot day here on the day we got it.  Over 100 degrees for a few days.  So, hubby and I decided to put it to the ultimate test.  We put a bottle of water in it from the fridge and put it outside.  Not just outside, but outside in the sun.  The water was out there for a few hours, and it was still cold when we checked it, so we decided to leave it out overnight.  When I got the chance to check it, it was 10AM and already sitting at 91 degrees.  The cooler was now sitting out in the heat for 19 hours (we put it out at 3 PM the day before).  The water was still cold, so we left it out later.  It was another over 100 degree day, so we figured at sun down, it would be warm.  So we checked it out again at 9 PM and it was STILL COLD!!!  So, that is a total of 27 hours and the water still felt like it just got out of the fridge.

Look at the awesome little pocket that is on the front also! :-)

We then decided to leave it out overnight again, sure that when we woke up the water would be warm.  Well, what we didn't know was that it was going to POUR that night.  When we got up and saw that it had rained, we were worried that we might have messed up our experiment.  I went out and checked on the water that was still cold, but not as cold as it was when we took it out of the fridge 39 hours ago.  Well, I was expecting the bag to be filled with water because of the rain, but it was not!  I couldn't believe that not even a DROP of rain got inside the bag!

After all of this experimentation, we have come to conclude that this is REALLY the best cooler we have ever seen!  It is awesome that you don't even have to put ice in it to keep it cool (we didn't for the experiment).  You also don't have to put it in the fridge or freezer to get it ready, it is just ready to go!  All in all, definitely an A+++++ cooler and must have!!!

Here is a great little 20 Second Video about Polar Bear Coolers

Green Bumkin Review and Giveaway

Today I am going to review a OS AIO from Green Bumkin.  Green Bumkin is an Etsy shop that offers diapers, wipes, and paci clips.  Check out her shop to see some examples of her great work!

The diaper that I got is made out of one of my FAVORITE BabyVille prints.  I seriously love this print!  It fits right in with my family of monsters haha.  But anyways, besides the cuteness factor, it is made remarkably well.  I could not find any kind of flaws with this diaper in the sewing or anything.  And seeing that I am a sewer, it is MUCH easier for use to see the smallest flaw (which I have caught on some name brand diapers).  So, to say that this is VERY well sewn means something from a sewer :-)

Here is what the diaper is made of:
-Outter shell of PUL.
-Inside consists of a total of 5 layers of Oeko-tex organic certified heavy bamboo/organic cotton fleece with a hidden layer of Zorb. Zorb absorbs moisture 10 times its weight in half a second, 20 times faster than cotton and can retain 3 times the amount of microfiber terry.
-Only natural fibers touch baby’s skin.
-Soaker pieces are sewn separately and only attached at back of diaper to allow more thorough cleaning and faster drying time.
-One size fits most (12-35 lbs), adjustable with a snap down rise.

So, as you can guess, this diaper is absolutely amazing at absorbency.  I can actually use this diaper as is for overnight without any leaks!  Overnight can be so tricky, as I am sure all of you know.  It is always good to test a diaper during the day first before you use it overnight as every baby is different.  And that is just what I did.  After it made it through 2 hours during the day, I tried it for his 3 hour nap.  When it worked for that, I tried it for overnight.  I was so excited to find dry sheets in the morning!!!

Another feature that I love (I don't really need it anymore, but I still love it) is that there are four snap down rises.  This means that the diaper can fit even smaller babies!  Who doesn't love getting more bang for their buck?!?!  Well, with diapers that fit smaller, you cut out the need for newborn diapers!  Sweet! :-)

The fit of this diaper is absolutely amazing.  I was able to get the lower rise that I like by setting it on the small setting and folding over the sewn in inserts.  I like lower rises because I think they just look a little bit better.  Anyways, so I was able to get a lower rise out of it without compromising his thighs.  Usually if I make the diaper a small, Dan starts getting red marks on his thighs from the legs being too tight.  Well, not with this diaper!  This shows that the diaper is AMAZING at customizing the fit to your child!  And, let's be honest, how amazingly cute does this butt look!?!?!  :-)

And now, thanks to Green Bumkin, you also have your chance to win one!!!!

Dayzee Chain Fiberworks Review and Giveaway

My grandmother tried to teach me to knit on quite a few occasions when I was little.  To say that it was a bust is putting it lightly.  Luckily I had an awesome teacher in high school that crocheted and had lots of patience and she taught me how to crochet.  Thank goodness for that wonderful lady because since then I have developed a deep love for making things with my hands.

Today’s review and giveaway has been one of my favorites so far.  I was lucky enough to be sent not one, but TWO, balls of yarn from Dayzee Chain Fiberworks to review.  The very first thing I noticed when I got them out of the box was how ridiculously soft they were.  I’ve crocheted with all types of different yarns, including some pretty expensive ones, but I have to say that the quality of this yarn far surpasses anything I’ve worked with to date.

Once I had my two balls of yarn ready I had to think of something really special to make with them, I wasn’t just going to use the yarn on any old project.   We recently found out that the baby that will be joining us in the fall will be a baby girl so I quickly decided that she needed a hat to wear home from the hospital.  I chose a very basic pattern and added a little flower to the hat to make it a little more feminine.
I think the hat turned out perfectly!  I’ve had to show it off to everybody who I’ve seen and I’ve received lots of compliments on just how soft the yarn is.

I think my favorite part about the yarn I was sent is that Katie, the owner, only chooses the highest quality of yarn to hand-dye.  That’s right, all of the yarn from Dayzee Chain Fiberworks is hand-dyed right here in the USA!  I love it when I can support an American company.

Katie was not only nice enough to send me two balls of yarn, but I’ve got two more to give away to one lucky reader!  Good luck!

Maintaining Proper Nutrition While Pregnant

To maintain good health, a person must maintain a good nutritional status, whether they are pregnant or not. However, when a woman becomes pregnant, she must be cognizant that what she eats will affect the health of her unborn child. One of the best things a pregnant woman can do for her unborn child is to eat nutritious meals.

Planning meals should be based on a woman’s pre-pregnant weight. If a woman was overweight, underweight, or was of normal weight, calories should be taken into consideration in lieu of this fact. The doctor will inform her of how many pounds she should gain or lose. The woman should heed the doctor's advice because excess weight will make it difficult to get into good physical shape after the baby is born.

During pregnancy, a woman should not go on a strict diet because it may cause a deficiency in essential nutrients, such as calcium, folic acid, iron, and other vitamins and minerals. This would have an impact on both the mother and the unborn child. A vitamin is usually prescribed to make sure the mother and the unborn baby are getting all the required nutrients.

A pregnant woman should eat foods based on the five food groups:

• Whole grains, white bread, rice, and pasta
• Vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, peas, carrots, spinach, romaine lettuce, kale, sweet potatoes, and winter squash.
• Fruits such as oranges, cantaloupe, strawberries, bananas, and apples
• Meat, fish, dry beans, eggs, nuts, meat alternatives
• Milk, yogurt and cheese

Women who are strict vegetarians should talk with their doctor because they do not usually eat from all five groups. Foods from each group should be consumed each day because each food group provides certain
nutritional benefits.

Since a pregnant woman will be eating for two, a few extra calories may need to be added to their diet as the pregnancy progresses. However, meaningful calories should be added instead of “empty calories,” such as soft drinks, candy, potato chips, and such.

Foods that should be avoided or limited dramatically:

• Caffeinated beverages such as coffee, teas and some soft drinks
• Fish should be limited to about two servings a week
• Chocolate

Foods that should be totally avoided:

• Raw seafood such as oysters or sushi
• Milk and cheeses that have not been pasteurized
• Undercooked meat and poultry

Women who develop gestational diabetes, have diabetes, are anemic, or have delivered low-birth-weight babies in the past, might need to seek the advice of a registered dietitian.

A pregnant woman who eats nutritious meals, watches their weight, gets a moderate amount of exercise, avoids stress as much as possible, gets an adequate amount of rest, and keeps a positive attitude; increases their chances of delivering a healthy baby. Consulting with a doctor is very important in order to ensure pregnant women are taking healthy measures. They will be the best resource to provide advice. Never hesitate to ask questions even if they seem silly—questions about diet, exercise, pain management medicine,
cord blood banking, or even circumcision. Doctors know what is best for each individual woman.

By following the doctor’s advice it will help make a smooth transition from pregnancy into motherhood. This is a time of excitement as a woman prepares to be a mother!

Project Pomona Review and Giveaway

Today I am going to review a pair of jeans from Project Ponoma, which are jeans made to specifically fit over cloth diapers!

These jeans are absolutely awesome!  They have so much to them, but yet are not overbearing.  I hope I can touch everything I wanted to say about these jeans with you today!

First of all, the waistband is so adjustable.  The waistband has elastic in it, but not only does it have elastic, but it also has snaps on it to get the best fit possible over the cloth diapers.   This helps you not have to size up on pants and get the frumpy look.  These fit just like what regular pants would fit over disposable diapers.  And I am sure that I am not the only mom that loves pants that fit over cloth diapers!

The pants leg also has a fold over design, that way they can fit for a different array of babies. With these two features put together (fold over legs and adjustable waistband), Project Ponoma just figured out an amazing way to save mommies a bunch of money!  How is that you ask?  Well, because of these features there are only THREE sizes that your child would go through from approximately ages 3 months to 2T!!!!  Normally there would be SIX sizes to get through all those sizes (3-6, 6-9, 9-12, 12-18, 18-24, and 2T)!!!  You can find their size chart here to help you find the best size for your child!

Now, the jeans that I received are called the Eco Rockstar in lime.  These jeans have a super cute recycle sign on the bottom.  Also, they have coordinated lime on the bottom and for the snaps.  These jeans are made out of a light weight material that is perfect for the baby.  It is also REALLY soft, which is not something that I would normally say about a pair of jeans.

You can buy a pair here: http://www.projectpomonashop.com/collections/all
You can also try your luck on winning a pair!  Good luck!

Funhouse T Shirts Review and Giveaway

Today I am going to do a review for Funhouse T Shirts!

First, I would like to start out with some of Scott's words, one of the owners:
Funhouse Tshirts specializes in Funny T-Shirts for adults and kids, as well as biker shirts and sports designs.  We love to do custom orders and since we use a state of the art garment printer, there are never any limitations or order minimums.  This is great for small groups like Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Youth groups, Bowling Leagues, Bachelorette parties, etc.  It really gives people a great option to get professional shirts without paying an arm and a leg, even if they only need two or three of them! (We don't list all the custom options on Etsy, but customers can contact us through an Etsy Convo)

I received two products from them to do a review and giveaway.  I got a shirt of my choice and a onesie that is their biggest seller!  I was so excited when I received these in the mail that I had to put them on Dan right away.  I have to say, that I am even more impressed by them after I got the shirt on Dan.  It fit perfectly!!!

I have to admit, the onesie is a little bit on the larger side for Dan right now, which is why there is no picture of him wearing it.  But, he will grow into it and it will look adorable on him I am sure.  Dan is a bit smaller than the normal 9 month old, so sometimes things are a little larger on him then what he should be at.  He just moved into 6-9 month clothes a few weeks ago!

Anyways, it was so hard to decide what shirt I wanted to get Dan.  If you look at their Etsy site, they have just the funniest shirts I have ever seen!!!  I was literally laughing when I was looking on their Etsy site.  I had to share a bunch of the shirts on my personal page because they were just the BEST ever!

Now, would you like a chance to win???  Well, here is your chance to win a t shirt or onesie of your choice!!!
