The Bumgenius Newborn costs $12.95 and is described as fitting from 6-12 lbs, and having a super absorbent microfiber core. The aplix is very sticky and works well, although it did leave scratchy red marks on my daughters upper thighs a lot. The tabs on all my diapers got pretty pill-y in just a few washes.
The above photo is of my daughter (about 11.5 lbs) wearing it. The colors are bright and pretty. The aplix is nice because you can get a custom fit, but something about the cut of the diaper makes it difficult to get a good fit if your baby has chubby thighs. If I got the thighs right, the waist was too loose, if I got the waist right the thighs were way too tight.
These diapers are almost as trim as disposables under clothes, although I think this leads to the biggest drawback of this diaper. The super thin microfiber padding simply does not absorb anything. My daughter leaked out of this diaper more times than I can count.
This is one of the few diapers that truly does fit the age range its supposed to, however chunky legs may be an issue. For newborns, its easy to fold the top seam down as seen in the above photo, for the cord stump. This is a good option if you need quick and convenient, but be prepared to change this diaper every 30 minutes. My girl is a heavy wetter and this did not work for us at all for containing pee, although it never leaked poop. I would not recommend this for moms who want a stash that last through multiple kids, as mine showed wear after just a few washes.
